Celaenops...first feeding attempt

kingsnake1 Jul 08, 2010 12:38 PM

Yesterday, 5 of my 6 celeanops hatchlings shed for the first time, so today, I tried feeding them. With the first, I tried half of an unscented pinkie head. He tried, but it was too large. Then I tried to feed all 5 unscented f/t pinkie noses. To my great pleasure, 3 ate immediately. I know this is an incredibly small morsel, but they are tiny snakes. Hopefully I can repeat this every other day or so, and thye will start growing.

Nice work on getting the little pigs to feed so soon! Sometimes they hold off until after their second shed. As for the size of the food items, they should be able to take small pink heads or even tiny, new-born (1-1.5 gram) pinks. They're stout little beasts and will surprise you with what they can take down!

The last hatchling shed yesterday and ate. 2 more to go. They haven't shown an interest yet, but I'll keep trying.
