Question about wholesalers

antr1 Jul 08, 2010 02:53 PM

Has anyone posted a classified and been contacted by someone who wants the animals sent to a wholesaler in Miami?

Some one contacted be by what appears to be an Indian name and would like the animals sent to a Dynasty Exporters in Miami. I am kind of worried that the animals might end up in some nutty cocktail.

It doesn't sound like a money scam because the payment would be in US dollars from the exporter.

Anyone have any input?

Thanks
Anthony

Its probably not a scam. I have heard the scams work by the buyer sending you a check or certificate for payment above and beyond the actual price, but allowing you to keep the overage due to not wanting to get another certified check, etc. cut for the actual costs as they are in a rush, or some weird reason. As far as what the snakes are being used for?? Well, there is a large asian market for both pet and medicinal snakes LOL!! thats the truth. They are going to buy from somewhere, so why not you? If they are interested in certain morphs, then probably pet market. But even then, some morphs may be revered as more powerful for medicinal purposes, etc.

Many times a international buyer will have a deal worked out with the exporter to have animals from lots of places sent to him prior to export. Obviously cost effective. If they are going to eat them its usually low cost animals or REALLY $$ ones. Either way doesnt make sense to not make the sale, they are going to get them from someone if they have the $$.

I had a bad experience years ago from someone in texas. Paid for a bunch of adult snakes, incl. shipping, but had me ship to a california dealer. The Bad experience came when I found out animals were then shipped to south korea. I wouldn't send a dead mouse to south korea or anything else because of their penchant for eating animals we keep as pets in the USA.
I don't give a rats behind about cultural differences in eating disorders. This hobby of mine has never been about the money. I don't keep expensive critters anyway, and if I did it's still about giving the animal a decent home.

I agree, I don't think I could sent an animal that I raised for years to have it's gallbladder cut out of it alive so someone can drink it.

If someone guaranteed me they would buy all my hatchlings at a fair price year after year, I would have to think twice about it!! Not heartless, but we do it with chickens and cows here anyways!!!

That may be true, but I raise all my stuff to be sold ONLY to be appreciated in a cage, not in some idiots stomach.

Now as to how they all have actually faired in some of those peoples care over the years is anyone's guess, but at least I make the conscious effort to try to do it that way.

Maybe there is some weird market for the highly revered proverbial "great orange and white snake"(amel Hondo..LOL!) for a better aphrodesiac than tiger bones over there, but I ain't contributing any of mine.

LOL

it was right after the blizzard corns were created and selling for like / down to 100$ average.....
Rich Zuchowski told me about it during a phone call and warned me about them looking for white snakes....I didn't think I'd see them but they were there and looking and asking about them....
those days blizzards were nice and rare enough to NOT want to sell them to gall eating people.....nowadays....it don't matter to me..........a bigtime old school in all the books kinda guy once told me..."I don't care if they make boots out of them or not""as long as I get paid"....(albino burmese for leather trade)

.......it's cool.....you can't make a jacket out of temporalis and you won't find too many white triangulum at all....(do hondos really count anymore) J/K.....we're safe in here....

have fun......

He has a guy named chun ku down in miami at Dynasty Reptiles, they purchase scarlet kings from me time to time and ask for perfect patterns, always paid good so I'm going to voutch for them and say it's likely that they're not eating them...

KevinM Jul 12, 2010 08:59 AM

Seriously, Japan has a HUGE PET snake market. Snakes can be kept much easier that warmblooded pets to a pet-starved and crowded nation!! Much easier to keep a corn snake in a 10-20 gallon aquarium than a dog that requires more space and has more stringent laws on keeping.

jodscovry Jul 12, 2010 09:49 AM

I maybe wrong about the search his name, I think he is from China not Japan, he's a Professor at some University, seems like a cool guy, looks like Mr.Meagee from the Karate kid. I dont think HE would eat your snakes but there could be a different buyer, not KG...
