I bought a double ranco thermostat. It worked fine for a few weeks, then the screen on the left hand unit went blank. I ordered another one. That one worked fine for less than a week and same problem, the left hand unit's screen has gone blank. As long as I have no need to re-adjust the temperature both thermostats work fine, but I can never adjust the temperatures due to the blank screens. I have a single ranco I've used for many years with no problem, and a Helix I've used for over a year with no problems. Has anyone else here used a double ranco? If so, how have they worked for you?

Is the Ranco with the blank screen 1st or 2nd in the wiring series (is it the one that plugs into the wall or is it the one that the heat plugs into)? Also if you disconnect the heat and let the probes drop to room temp does it come back on?

It's the one that has the power strip coming from it. The one with the power cord coming out of it doesn't go blank. Unplugging and replugging sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I sent an em to the company I bought them from but haven't received a response yet.

Remember that when the primary t-stat reaches it's temp setting & shuts off, the secondary t-stat will not be supplied with power & will have a blank screen. What's your secondary setting? Try setting the primary acouple degrees higher than the secondary & you should see it working. This will mimic the primary being stuck wide open so the secondary should kick in as your back up. If it works, no worries.

Oh that's wonderful news, so they aren't broken then. That does make so much sense now that you've explained it but I never would have figured it out myself. I have them set at exact same temp. I'll try setting them at a little diff temps and see if that works. Thank you SO much. I had emailed the place I bought them from but they never answered me so I'm very grateful you were able to tell me what is going on with them.

Glad to help! Just remember to reset them once you've tested the secondary t-stat. When we run duals, we set the secondary 2 degrees higher than the primary, with both being set at a 1 degree differential. That way, if the first gets stuck open, it'll only get 2 degrees hotter.
