Spider or Woma?

kamptraining Jul 12, 2010 12:25 AM

I have always been under the impression that Spiders have the "web-like" pattern, lightened color and white sides. I also have heard that the white on a spider isn't the same on a hatchling as an adult and that it will get more white as they grow. I am less familiar with the Woma morph, but I have read that they have a golden color and a "banding" pattern. I have two (09)snakes that were sold to me as Spiders, but I have yet to notice any hint of white. I saw a snake on the classifieds that looked exactly like them and was labeled a Woma. What do you think?

Also, I have heard some debate as to whether or not the Woma and Spider genes are similar like the Black Pastel to Cinnimon and Lesser Platinum and Butter. Any thoughts on that?

Andrea,

I have both Spiders and Woma, and from the looks of your pictures, you were sold two Womas. If you can post belly pic's of the two that will also help out.

On the Woma I have, the bands on the side go all the way to the belly in most areas, and there is a greyish tint to the center belly scales. Were as my Spiders have clear bellies and lots of white on thier sides.

One last thing is the head pattern, from what I've read and seen, most Womas have a violin type pattern on their head, just like the one in the last pic.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Here are belly pics of the first one (male):

I also thought it wasn't a bad thing that I got Womas instead of Spiders since they cost much more. I was planning on making spider combos though. Oh well!

Nice pickup Andrea, good looking snakes and as the previous person wrote the Woma is worth more than the Spider. Jay

Well that is if you paid a Spider price for them and got Woma's you did a bit better than a Spider, if you paid a Woma price and got Woma's then no harm done there either. You can basically make all the same stuff with the Woma that you could the Spider so that is a good thing.. Jay

If they wobble, they are spiders, if not probably woma.

If you breed them to a pastel or a lesser, you will definetely know what you have.

Any way, all the combos are nice.

I prefer the woma to the spiders.

I have heard that Womas will also wobble. Has anyone else heard that?
