Does anyone here have experience with this rack? Any comments? Do you think the tubs would be large enough to house an adult female?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Make sure you are in a super warm place or have a nice nice warm snake room. The visions we have used are all open air and just suck for ambient heat. Especially if you live in WA state.

Thanks for the reply
I was planning on using a space heater of something to keep the room warmer.
Have you used the boa rack?
your better off buying caging if you live up north or enclosed rack i would buy those big tubs from vision and build my own

We have Vision 15qt, 32qt, and CB70 is all. As long as your room is above 78 degrees they work pretty well. We don't really care for the open air racks as we are in the cold state of WA. We make our own now and they are all closed air racks. The Vision racks seem to have so many air ventilation holes that the ambient air leaks out pretty good.

I know Vin Russo from Cutting edge herp and Rich and John from Salmonboa.com use them, or at least according to the vision page.
the tubs have about 50 more square inches of floor space compared to a 4x2 cage. I think they would be sufficient, I don't like racks though. as the other guys said also, they have an open air design so you'd need to keep your room rather warm, close to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

I noticed that a lot of you guys are suggesting a closed air rack. Are there any closed air racks large enough for adult boas or would I have to build my own? If there is, could you suggest one?
Thanks

As far as I know, no, or at least they aren't large enough for the boa to be comfortable in.
I say you ditch the rack idea and go for cages if you can't keep your room at around 80(F). Anyway, ARS/FB racks that boas could comfortably live in are rather expensive, each level being over double the cost of a single 4x2x1 plastic cage from basically anywhere.
I personally like the look of these racks a lot, though:
www.ngmexotics.com/fusion_450.php
again, it is an open air rack. most of these racks are intended for large scale breeding.

I think what I may do is go with the cage idea that you suggested, or buy some of the vision boa tubs and build my own closed air rack.
Thanks again

IMO, racks don't benefit the animals, if anything I think the boas may feel more uncomfortable in a rack. racks benefit you.

What is your reasoning on that? I am just curious what about a rack would make boas more uncomfortable??

I said this in another post, but I don't want to restrict them as far as space goes. In the wild they'd have more space than they could ever need. Why should we make them feel as enclosed as possible?
It is brought up that shorter (as in height) tubs make them feel more secure. Snakes in the wild find ditches, tree holes, and many other possible places where they could hide. This is how they feel secure. Give them a hide and they'll be fine in higher and possibly larger cages.
Racks are easier to clean, easier to feed in, easier to take snakes out of, but I think they make snakes feel like living under a rock or in a dresser their whole lives.

I've also just been told that the tubs are actually 36x24, the advertised measurements are the tops.

I can let you know tomorrow when i receive my rack from ARS. I went with the ARS because i live in FL and keep them in my garage so open air is just fine for me. ARS also have much less holes in them than other racks out there. Take a look at this link, this is the rack i am getting.
http://www.arscaging.com/ars9512.html
They have a larger surface area than a 4x2 enclosure so i think they should be just fine for average adult boas breeding. A great deal of the decision process should be determined by the climate in which you will be housing your animals. I hope this helps and best of luck with your decision.
Although there is a greater surface area on those tubs, don't you think instead of having this almost square shaped tub, an enclosure with longer length and shorter width would benefit boas more? They do spend most of their time curled up, but why should we restrict them when it comes to room? In the wild they have much more room than they'll ever need. The other side of the argument is the space issue. We're keeping these animals because we're fascinated by them, or at least most of us are, and hopefully not mostly or solely on the business aspect of breeding.
This wasn't directed specifically at you but more so the tub design.
We all have our own opinions but it just doesn't seem right to me.

I guess we could say that about any enclosure that are housing animals of any kind. I agree with you that the more room the better for our animals but we are limited to space. This is why i say that there are many different options as far a housing goes and what is best for one may not be best for another. With that being said ARS is what i like for racks and Boaphile expandable 4x2's to 6x2's or 8x2's are what i would have as far as enclosures if my babies were inside. Once again just my 2 cents for what its worth.
I love mine. Keep your room around 80 and humidity at least 50%. 7 even 8 foot females fit comfortably in them and I have never had a baby crushed even from my largest females.

Wow, those are some nice racks. I really like the unique design with the vertical dowels on each corner. Could you give us some details on it?? Thanks
