Temp of Gravid BRB

Z_G_Reptiles Jul 13, 2010 08:12 AM

I found this a little interesting, my herp room is between 82-83 degrees so I dont give my brb's a basking area and when I cool them I just remove their cages from the room and put them in the spair bedroom, but back to what i was saying, the temp was about 83 so I used my Raytek temp gun to get the temps of my gravid female

Upper part of her body was around 82.5-83
Middle where the babies would be was 84.5
and the rest was around 83

I found it interesting that where the babies are growing it was a good 1.5-2degrees warmer then the rest of her body and even the air temp in the room.

Just thought I'd share
Zack

Hey Zack, very interesting observations!! I have noted that exact same thing myself with my gravid BRB girl. I have found her upper half to measure around 81 degrees most often when the noticeable swell measures 84-85. This has been a good sign for me that there is definitey some developing babies in there!!
