Ultimately the decision is up to you based on what morphs appeal most to you, combined with what morphs are available at the show. You can look through the KS classifieds to get a feel for the morphs that are available and the kinds of prices they go for. Make up a list of the ones you like best in the $1000 or under price range. I'd personally go for one or two nice quality balls rather than try to buy a whole breeding group and spread your money thin on a bunch of normals or single morphs. But that's me. Good luck and have fun picking out your new snake/s (and post pics)...

first off thats good for you to have $1000 to spend on snakes in general, not that many people nowadays don't have that much money, BUT if you must buy some morphs, you SHOULD buy what YOU want and not what WE think you should buy. Snakes to you might not be all pretty to us and vice versa. But regardless, good luck in your hunt!
Hey there, If you are gonna pop for some Morphs and want to make the most of your money now there is a couple of ways to go about getting more for your money and they are almost 180 degrees apart. First off you can do it the longer but a bit cheaper way of buying some male orphs which can be raised to breeding size in a year or so and then buy several Mormal females that are already breeding size to breed them with and make your own Morph babies or you can forget the male Morphs for a couple of years and invest in the females which take you more or less 3 years to raise to breeding size and then get some male morphs about 2 yrs from now so they are all maturing into breeding animals about the same time. It depends how soon you want to make your own babies but I would opt for the female morphs now and feed them well for 2 or 3 years and then get my males. If you want to spend $1000 you should be able to pick up maybe 3 to 5 or 6 morph females depending on what you get. You know of course you can spend anything from $150 per female to several thousand depending on what you want to do so as SlytherLyn said get what you want and if you get them all from the same breeder you should be able to work out a much better deal. I would throw out some things to you like Pastel, Super Pastel, Lesser, Enchi, Bumblebee, Spider, Woma and a number of other things for you to consider. Just remember not to buy your males right now unless you are getting male Morphs and larger female Normals to breed sooner because until your females are big enough to breed you are just spending extra money to feed the males that you dont need to be spending(coming from a guy that did exactly that because no one told me different). If I have confused you after the slushy or two that I have had this afternoon while fishing just drop me an email. Dont forget to shop prices like Lyn said so you know what fair prices are before yougo throwing your money around at a show and buying more from the same breeder should give you a good additional discount. hey guys thanks, what do you think about a pair of mojaves and a pair or pastels or instead of the pastel pair maybe a spider and a pastel. or i could just get a pair and maybe get two butters or two lessers and some normal females. tell me what you guys think about this
I have a normal male and he's awesome and has gotten me into ball pythons and I plan to breed one day, but wouldn't breed him... why waste your time on getting normals if you have the cash for some sweet morphs?
the things you mentioned are great but dont spend that money on males unless your females are breeding size already.. Just remember 1 yr for males and 3 yrs for females. Besides in 2 yrs male Mojaves and Pastels along with male Bees will nearly be free by then. Male Pastels are right now and Spiders are very close behind male Mojo's running a close third..lol.

Out of curiosity do you also need to buy caging and food with your $1000 or is all of that already set up?
If you need a rack and food out of that money then that will make a big difference on what you can get vs if you already have caging set up and food and can spend the whole wad on snakes.
Sounds like you like Bumblebees and Blue Eyed Lucy's from the list of morphs mentioned. If you are putting together a breeding group I'd start with the best quality females you can find.
The hobby has quantity as far as babies available for sale, morph balls are not an endangered species, think quality instead of quantity.
I also agree no need to buy a male this year unless you are picking up a breeding size morph female which are expensive and not that easy to come by.
Here is one thought given the morphs you've put out there.
This year you could pick up a Bumblebee female and a either a Lesser or Butter or Mojo female
Next year pick up a Pastel Lesser or Pastel Butter male.
You could make really nice babies with that trio.
That's just one option based on the morphs you tossed out. There are like a gazillion other options out there, I know it's exciting to try to plan ahead of time what to get. I do it every time I go to a show, brainstorm what I hope to find. But ultimately it will end up depending on what is offered for sale when you get there. So it's hard to set up a for sure plan ahead of time.
Also, don't feel you HAVE to spend it at the show if you can't find something you are going to be happy with. You can always come home and go onto KS Classifieds and find just about every morph available and at good prices. It's OK (although easier said then done) to walk out empty handed with your money still in your pocket. I've managed it a couple times when they just didn't have what I wanted. Hoping that won't be the case and you will find something fun though.

You definitely have to think about cageing and supplies depending on what kind of setup you want. I priced a 3 shelf rack system, thermostat, 4” flexwatt heat tape and hookups for it, and an IR thermometer. All that comes out to over $350. You can make great morphs with any single morph breedings you do and build off of them. Good luck.
i breed rats for the ball pythons and already have a small boaphile rack system. i think i will just go with females for now
