Super cinnies/black pastels etc

milkman2 Jul 13, 2010 07:27 PM

Was wondering if both black pastels and cinnies get "duckbills" or if it is just black pastels, hatched a silver bullet and was worried that this clutch would have that issue, needless to say, it didn't. No issues with this little guy, he is from a cinnie pewter to cinnie. I have black pastels also and will try every combo to see which helps weed out that defect.

Milkman, that is one very fine looking animal you made. I hope any of the other combos you try workout that well also. I thought the Cinnie to Cinnie or the Black Pastel to BP is where the duck billing became a problem.. I may be wrong about that but I am breeding Cinnie to BP and BP to Cinnie to see if I can produce the Supers without the duck billing problem,, hope it works out for too. Jay from Sunny AZ

Thanks for the comments... I have seen it in blacks, not so much in cinnies, unless they were bred into blacks. Saw a few super cinnies posted here a few weeks ago and they looked normal to me. Wondering what everybody else's results have been.

Yes we produced supers from cinny to cinny. And we ended up with 1 super and 2 super parodx and all were perfect. We made sure we got lines that were very much outcrossed. If the lines are too close together you may get duck billing, kinking etc.Hope this helps.
Have a great season! Shane & Kim KSC Exotics

i can't say about the black pastels but cinnies definitely can duckbill. i had a duckbilled cinnie in a clutch of cinnabees(cinnie x spider) last season.

Last year I hatched a Silver Bullet from a Cin Pewter x Cin Pewter and it looks normal... not 100% sure, but I think the adults are siblings too.
