Spider related genetics question

Earthworks Jul 14, 2010 07:02 AM

i was admiring pictures of the panda ball today and couldnt help but think a panda-spied would be great and more deserving of the title given the facial mask of the spied...

then i got thinking deeper which led to my questions... and first of all i wasnt sure which part is expressing as the white on the panda ball, is this the normal pattern expressing as white and only the white pied blotch showing black from the super black pastel or vice-versa?

also i noticed the panda head was all white which was odd dont see alot of pieds with white heads are people thinking this is indicitive of the cross?

i guess based on these questions the spied wouldnt even be a possibility would just produce another all white or all black snake? comments/thoughts appreciated, just was envisioning how cool an all white snake with an all black facial pattern mask would be

i dont think a panda spied would have enough black on it to be deserving of the name panda, since it would only be on the face and no where else on the body

honestly a panda spied would most likely be another white snake. spider pieds make an all white snake with a marked head. the panda pied has a white head and random amounts of white and black. so most likely it would end up with another white snake BUT it may produce the first TRUE all white snake. all the other "lucy's" are close but they are not stark white they usually have some yellow or something showing. once more pandas are produced we will find out if the white head is true to the morph or a fluke. also the panda in general may be a fluke, it may be a paradox lucy that happens to be masking the super cinnamon. who knows until more are produced.

just because that one panda had a white head doesn't mean they all will. pieds vary in pattern. i seriously doubt that a panda spied would be all white. but the spider gene does seem to reduce pieds to only head pattern, which therefor would lead one to believe that a panda spied would have just a black mask. making it more of a raccoon pied >_< lol
