suggestions for monitor cage lid...

jillmarie0512 Jul 14, 2010 07:51 AM

I have a young savannah, about 8 inches in length. I'm planning on setting up a 65 or 75 gallon aquarium for him for the time being, and I was wondering what I could do for the lid. I don't want to do screen because I'm concerned about heat and humidity retention. I was thinking about making my own wooded lid to sit over top, that way, I could cut out a place for the heat lamp, a few little holes in the other side for ventilation etc.

Has anyone ever done this? Any suggestions you have would be very helpful. Thanks.

What I do for raise up cages is break all of the plastic off of them and simply place a top on it for the most part. Here is a simple design I put together. Each tops takes about 30minutes to do.

Perfect no, but it does its job.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks a lot. What material did you use to make the lid from?

Hi.

That is made from melamine that is 3/4 thick. There are also a few 1" holes with screen glued to them drilled on the ends that are not shown in the pictures.

Cheers,
Mike.

Why do you break the plastic off? I can't really tell from the pics how the top looks or works so i was just curious
