South Dakota bad lands

I really wanted to check out the inside of these bars, but they were closed for the day by the time we got there.

This old jail was in someones back yard. Nobody was home, so I just had to sneek in for a minute.

Hey Dan,

Are you currently out here? LOL I am in Rapid City right now! I will say at least the bad lands gave a nice change in scenery on the highway from the brown and green flatness we saw most of our drive.

Cindy,

No, I got home at 4 am tueseday. What state did you drive from? I thought the drive from MT. to SD. was pretty nice the entire way. But then again, I look at all habitat as a place to find at least somthing, lol, so I like it all. Have you seen anything cool yet? Have fun!

Later,

Dan

We left Milwaukee WI at 2 am Wednesday and landed in Rapid City at 4ish in the afternoon. It wasnt a bad drive overall, but fairly boring scenery. Green or brown flatness until we hit the badlands. That and all the wall drug signs. Heading over to Reptile Gardens in a bit for the day.

How long was your drive?

Cindy,

Our drive should have been about 8 hours from here to Rapid City, but the way I have to keep stopping to herp a bit, plus all the road work, it took like 12 hours.

What do you think of the Reptile Gardens?

"Injuns Allowed." Crazy scenery.

Trespassing in the jail - definitely worth it.

Thanks Doug!

I found a ton of agates. I wanted to spend more time in the dry stream beds, but the rain started comming down & I was afraid if I stayed down there any longer I wouldnt get back up the hill without falling back down 50 times.
