Sunglow Motley litter.

JasonRobeck Jul 14, 2010 03:23 PM

This is my third litter of the summer, and the second with sunglow motleys in it. This one came from a motley het albino x double het sunglow breeding. It was a nice big litter of 28 babies, 1 still born, and 1 unfertilized egg. The mom seemed happy to have her cage cleaned, as she'd made a real mess of it giving birth and was more than ready to feed.

I'm really digging the variation in appearance from one motley to another.

Nice man, congrats on another great litter!! It's gonna be hard for you to decide how many sunglow mots to keep back this year,LOL, (well I know it would be for me!!)

Thanks man. I'll have to decide whether I'm ordering more cages, or selling off some older stock to keep some of these. It'll be easier doing that than the waiting for the litters to show up was.

Congrats on another great litter brother. Why is it always the albinos that have the big bellies? This is something I have been noticing this year that litters with animals that mostly appear normal, it seems the albinos and sunglows in the the litter have big yolk bellies. Have you noticed this too? I can not remember but did your other litters have big bellies? What do you make of the albinism trait and that happening? It almost seems like the albinos need a little bit longer in the cooker. Some more real amazing animals from you this year. Big congrats and like the other gentlemen said, hard to decide what to keep especially how many if not all the sunglow mots. LOL

Thanks. It will be hard to choose which to hold back. I think I can do it though

This whole litter had fat bellies. The albinos just seem to stand out more. I do know from past experience with this female that the albinos are more likely not to make it than any of the others with fat bellies. She's produced a couple nice sunglow litters for me in the last few years and the sunglows all did fine with fat bellies (even the fellow below), whereas I lost a couple of the fat bellied albinos. I don't know why that is, but it's a bummer.
