Help! Stinky Cyclura

bricun1 Jul 15, 2010 01:49 PM

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have had several cyclura and currently have four. One of my 8 month olds has had very stinky urine since I have had her. Her stools are healthy, but when she goes there is very little urine and it stinks- sort of like rotten fish. She has the same cage setup and living conditions as the others, and gets the same diet(collards, kale, romaine, squash, carrots, and the occasional fruit or mealworm.) She gets a bath every day and is the only one that will drink the bathwater. She does not seem to be dehydrated- her skin is soft and supple, and she has a lot of energy and is otherwise healthy. Should I be worried.

Id get a fecal done, rule out any parasite. Then I would remove things out of her diet to see if that changes things. Actually I would not feed her for a couple of days but get her to defecate, try to clean her out. I would try a diet that is completely new for a few days and see if that changes things. If it does, then maybe it is diet related. Then go back to the original diet and remove parts to isolate the culprit. You are not feeding Asparagus right?

jf,

Thank you for your input. She definitely gets no asparagus! It didn't even occur to me to get a fecal done, but I think it's a good idea and will try that. If no parasites then I'll try mixing up the diet too.
Thanks!
