antibiotik for gravid female

MoreliasCom Jul 18, 2010 06:04 PM

Hi,

I have a gravid boa, witch had some shed stuck to her upper lipp.

I removed what I saw about 3 weeks ago when I noticed it but some must have clinged on, because she has now developed a mouth full of saliva.

It is not bad yet, but Im very nervy about it all as she should give birth in about 40 days.

And I do not want to mess with here more than absolutly neccesary.

Is there any antibiotic with is better than the other, I have access to 10% baytril and fortum/Ceftazidim.

Is one safer than the other?

Thanks
Bård

It's really not wise to use antibiotics blindy..... if it is really a threat of getting infected have a vet do a culture and sensitivity on the would first to determine which antibiotics will be effective...

Otherwise its a crapshoot.... the reason why so many of the bacteria have become superbugs is because of indescriminate use of antibiotics.....
