I shot this trespasser on sight! O/T

Z_G_Reptiles Jul 19, 2010 10:28 AM

I my wife and I found this little 5-lined Skink on our house this Sunday so I took a few pics of it and liked how this one turned out. I use a Nikon D90 not the greatest with it but I'm still trying to learn.

Thanks
Zack

Love that tail!

Unfortunately, the most recent skink I've seen on my property was drowned in one of the dogs' water tubs!

That's too bad, the tail on some of the 5-lines, like this one, are just unbeleivable. This was the first one I've seen in the wild, mostly we just find the common ground skinks which are near impossible to photograph since it's impossible to catch them since they stick to staying under the roots of the grass.

Thanks Cliff, they are definitly beautiful lizards and kinda crazy that the tail is truely that color and that's not done by photo editing.

That thing is adorable. Did you keep him or just let him go on his way.

I didn't want to scare him too bad in hopes he sticks around so i didnt try to catch him. We have a bunch of green anoles that pretty much claim their own little basking areas on our back portch/house and are getting kinda use to us so you can get within just a couple feet before they take off.

I was able to get about 4-5 feet from him till he jumped off into the grass so he wasn't too bad but once spooked he jetted off pretty quick. It sometimes amazes me how beautiful some animals are right in our own backyards.
