You can apply for an educational display permit or a scientific permit, but the new rules they just made up to go along with the ROW law make it a pretty useless piece or paper any more.
Look here for some more info.... on both kinds of useless permit.

as an out of state educator.....which one do you think i want???....i'm not trying to get you to do everything...just point me..
I would suggest the Educational Display Permit, but being from out of state would not be holding my breath.

Being from out of state may work in favor. They may look at it as it won't be used very much and abused.

I see them instead keeping his $50 processing fee and just saying "no"... for TP&W that is a "win - win"

ha..ha....great point!!!!!....but with or without....i'll be out there...
I don't know that it is fair to label the permits as useless.
They are useless if your goal in applying for one is simply to get around the road hunting/ROW law. And frankly they should be useless for that purpose because that isn't what the permit is intended for.
I think too many people applied for permits over the last year or two (or had themselves added to existing permits) simply to get around the ROW law.
And the permit must specifically stipulate that you CAN collect on the roads and ROWs because those techniques are currently prohibited.
Just for the record, I'm not on anyone's permit right now. I could easily qualify for one should I want one, but I am not going to apply just so that the laws don't apply to me. I don't like this law, but I don't feel like I should use that "back door" to get around it.
Your opinions, like mileage, may vary.
