For some reason I have gotten the idea that you cant keep different species of frogs together. Why is this? Or can you keep Dendrobates leucemelas and Dendrobates aurotus together?

There has been quite a bit of talk of mixing species in the past say 2 weeks here. The basic rundown (again...) is small and large (D. tinctorius clad and D. quinquevittatus clad), or opposite genera (Epipedobates and Dendrobates, Phyllobates and Epipedobates, Dendrobates and Phyllobates, or all three in a large enough tank). You could keep Dendrobates leucemelas and Dendrobates aurotus together, but not Dendrobates leucomelas and Dendrobates auratus...kidding... They can and will hybridize. Mixing should only be done in an appropriate sized tank (50 or more gallons in my opinion).

ZING!.....LOL..On another note I would like to point out to every one that Justin and Derek Benson punked me out good Monday into Tuesday night..they actually had me convicted that Justin brokered a pr of bulls eye histroe to Derek for $150 each and that I could not have any

D. leucomelas
...that was Dereck's idea to do it, my method. It was pretty funny and Brian was so excited that he actually was spelling correctly for a few minutes.. That was the funniest part.

Gimme a break! I think that was good spelling with not looking it up or anything! I didnt even know what these frogs scientific names were yesterday! Does anyone else keep them together? what do you think of my setup? if someone can tell me how to post a pic, I'll do that.
And here I thought that Brian would never get "convicted" of good spelling!!

And what do the rest of you think about my question?
For some reason I have gotten the idea that you cant keep different species of frogs together. Why is this? Or can you keep Dendrobates leucemelas and Dendrobates aurotus together?
Well, yes you can. But when they mature and begin to breed, you may end up with hybrids which is bad. Also, the males may begin to fight for teratories causing stress. So its best not to, but it isnt impossible either.
Does anyone else keep them together? what do you think of my setup? if someone can tell me how to post a pic, I'll do that.
I dont keep any frogs of different species together. I dont know of anyone else who does. You havent described your setup so I cant tell you what I think of it yet.
