Ultimate Rack System

McCarthyBoas Jul 20, 2010 10:57 PM

Here is the rack system I will make someday for myself if I ever take my hobby out of my home and make it my fulltime job. For now it's only a dream but here are some pictures of a mobile file system I have installed. As you can see this would make the "Ultimate Rack System" Just think....you would have 3 times the cage space in the same room you have now! Just add the tubs to the shelving. The shelving can be raised in 1" increments and come in many different sizes. The carriages can be made to any size, so I can even use my existing Freedom Breeder racks and wire rack system on the carriages. This system has hand cranks to move the carriages, but I can also have electric switches that will move any or all the carriages for me automatically. End panels can be made to match my home or office decor if I want.

Take care
Tom

You should look into the price of those units...

we have some at work that are 16' tall and 23' wide....nice but way more cash than I'm looking to spend.

Another option would be the power drawer system from vidmar..that would be cool.

And best of all you would never even have to see your animals unless you went out of your way to unroll the racks!!! Just close your eyes and picture not having that unfortunate side effect of having to see your animals each day oh wonders of wonder that would be the ultimate. Why you could cram more and more in to smaller and smaller spaces then have a hissy fit if anyone ever dares to question this practice. Mark my words rack systems will in the long run be one of the downfalls of our hobby. They are to easy for people who don't know what they are looking at to criticize. These roller racks would just add fuel to the fire.

This system is not good for a smaller scale breeder like myself. In my opinion it would work good for the large scale breeders that have thousands of snakes in rack systems now. It could free up space needed for other projects or even to down size the square footage space the breeder has now so he could save money on rent if need be.

I use 3 rack systems now and have cages that are 4' and 6' long. The cages are nice so you can see the snakes but I do have some snakes that like the rack system better. I have 4 snakes that would only eat maybe 1 time a month in there cages now that they are in racks they eat 2 to 3 times a month and they do seem calmer to me when I do take them out.

take care
