New Snake!

kingofspades Jul 22, 2010 09:34 AM

Package just came in from Outback Reptiles.
Dinker that my girlfriend bought me because she is awesome! (The girl...and the snake for that matter)

It's the one they were advertising as a "Blurry Granite."
Genetic or not...she's big and beautiful.

Belly shots once she calms. She was flighty coming out of the bag...not bitey, just flighty.

I really like that brown head.

Very pretty! She'll make for a wonderful dinker project. What are you plans for her?

I like her brown head too...unique.

Probably going to breed her to my cinny first, since all my other males are babies at the moment.
Now my debate is try for late this season, or wait until early next season. Waiting is only 3 months away, but she is currently 2300 grams....so she could go now.

I like the extra iridescence she seems to have. Very pretty. Even if she just proves out to be normal, she could add some really nice genetics into some other morphs.

Oh wow! I really like her! I think that has to be genetic.

kingofspades Jul 22, 2010 06:33 PM

I sure hope so. I'll hopefully find out this season.

i think she's awesome, and she sure looks to be genetic. BUT if someone is selling a 2300 gram female "dinker", she's been breedable for the last 3, 5 years, or more - so does'nt it reason that they have tried to prove her out themselves at this point? why sell her as a "dinker" if she's genetic? not trying to take the wind out of yr sails as she sure looks like she has something, but it would seem odd to think the previous owner did not work with her for awhile?

kingofspades Jul 22, 2010 06:36 PM

I asked Josh, they bred her late last season and she didn't lay.

If she doesn't prove, it's still a big female. We'll see what happens.

the previous owner was Outback Rep....Ian and all the guys ship in thousands of balls a year...hundreds of cool dinkers...selling alot of them....it may have been in the country actually hours before someone got it....I know he goes to shows and stops at balt wash airport ON the way to the show and picks up boxes of things ....so they are actually opened while you are watching sometimes....

cool huh....

.prove it's something........brown heads are cool....just never got any ....(it's hard to get in the front of the line FOR these boxes........

At the moment the only breeding male I've got is my Cinny, but I'm not sure what I want to do because it might be hard to pick put traits from a cinny/her combo (if she is genetic)

We'll see.

It's hard to see her head in those pictures. Does it get much lighter toward the back or is it just the lighting?

Here is my male Garcia line chocolate. There seems to be a lot of range to how these guys look (and my male may have something else going on too). They can have different patterns (though generally wide dark areas) but one fairly consistent trait is the light back of the head.

Congratulations and good luck whatever she is!

Here's a shot of her head. She does have a lot of chocolate qualities.
Can you post a pic of the chocolate belly so I can see it?

(It looks like I am squeezing her neck in the pic...I'm not. She was crawling through my hand fast when I took the pic)

Is the front of her head really that dark or is it that it's pointed away from the light in all three pics?

She seems to have more red to me and that pattern is way out there but who knows.

The male from that pic is in shed right now but I'm not sure my Garcia line has the typical chocolate belly (although the supers look to me just like the BHB super pics I've seen). I've seen posts by others showing lots of dark down the chocolate belly but my original female is almost clear and that 07 son only has a little dark on the belly. I've got a really nice 2010 son that has quite a bit of black so I'll post pics of him but sorry will be a few days.

kingofspades Jul 22, 2010 11:38 PM

Her head is a dark chocolate brown color. The first two pics were full flash, so...that's pretty much her head color.

We'll see what happens when I breed her.
