I haven't heard anything about Ship Your Reptiles resuming UPS shipping...

Neither UPS or FedEx will insure live animals.

no insurance on live shipments but i just sent a very expensive vpi t-positive pink panther through them this past mon. for tues. arrival wich went perfectly! you fill out youre info and pay online and my shipping label popped right up! so i have to assume there shipping snakes again they never stopped actually at least for lizards and non snake reptiles! just snakes were banned for some reason awhile back i actually forgot all about the snake issue but i just shipped one myself through them! with no issues! i guess i should have called and asked first!

....if it's so cool to use a company that is geared towards the reptile industry.....then there should be a reason to use them.......IF they don't insure then it's the same as just sending it postal or fedex or ups whatever....it's all a loss if THEY screw it up.....oops...sorry...we lost the little box....you lost $5G....too bad...have a nice day???...bull....

why I don't ship......

OK...Thanxx.........ends that thought.......

SYR isn't a shipper - they are essentially just an account authorized to ship - major perk being that less frequent shippers don't have to go through the certification process - plus there is a decent volume discount. Fedex is the shipper so they would be the one that "lost your box" and they don't insure perishables.

yes I know they just save us 10 on shipping etc etc

and it still doesn't pay for the $$$ thousands in each box...

registered shipper...I see this all the time....

???why?...walk into any Kinkos and say...ship this...thanks...bye..(.or any fedex store/depot..) I'd bet on it......

I called DHL once years ago when they were still alive...they came here an hour early and dropped off boxes and envelopes and picked the package up ......no idea who I was.....bam...there...

You as a shipper take your chances with shipping...the bottom line is no one needs to ship their animals...it is something many of us choose to do in order to sell our animals...but if I was shipping something worth 5 G's...you can bet your ass it would be going Delta...if its less than a $1000...I would take my chances with UPS through ship your reptiles...never had a problem with UPS...or fedex for that matter...now DHL on the other hand....never...ever...would I ship anything with them again.

FYI, as of 5 days ago when I got a reply from Robyn@Pro Exotics to some questions I asked they still where NOT back shipping snakes. Anyone shipping unauthorized through them now I would think would be a big risk to getting this service back going again.

But on Delta, back when they where about the only game I thought I heard they never paid claims on dead/lost animals? The only first hand experience I have is big trouble getting them to accept a shipment but I thought they were like the other ones and don't cover live animals even if they will sell you insurance for them.

Maybe we should start a co-op with a network to drive snakes back and forth across the country, lol. Anytime someone is taking a vacation/going on a trip they could post their route. Even at the current more modest values not sure I would want to be carrying thousands of dollars of other people’s snakes but if I ever produce and sell anything in that price range I might just have to plan a trip around delivering it. Suppose the mileage would be deductable, right?

I debated just starting a company that ships reptiles in general...but yeah...no capital. Haha.

Maybe we can get all the big shot breeders to drop some capital investment and start one.

One thing people also don't understand is that if a snake is packaged well, it can survive being in transit for longer than one day, assuming there isn't extreme heat or cold.

I had a box of one adult female and 4 babies coming to me...and DHL lost it for 2 days.
The package came in and the snakes were fine. A little chilly, but fine...

The benefit is it's cheaper.
I believe it's $35 instead of $50 and you don't have to jump through the hoops of getting certified.

You still can not ship snakes through SYR I just looked at there site and there is still no change in there status so if you get caught shipping a snake you will hurt it for the rest of us. Be smart people.

I had a pied female come delta dash a couple months ago, flight came about 30 minutes late to orlando. They were on top of this package they asked what it was I said live animal. They called to the loaders every 3-5 minutes to see if they got package yet. When the loader got his hands on the package,he drove it to the office and I was on my way.Point is I was not stressing over it,but they have great service and do what it takes.

I have used Delta back in the days....they would ship the boxes marked live and special and extreme care etc etc no hot no cold...they would take so much care of them at times that they would take them to the side at Philly airport and make sure they got special treatment...trouble was they would actually forget thet they sat them aside and forget to place them on the outgoing flight...oops...hours later after calling and asking they would remember and find them at a wall in back of stuff and finally get them to the airport.....where they would be thrown on the floor right at the doorway (once next to a big box with a dead guy in it)....Harrisburg International is not that big...kinda cool....(actually it's IN Middltown ,PA....)...but still a pain rather than just getting them at the door by 10:30 (even if they are hoursssss late)..(this week Dave Niles DID ship me a pair of Tyrrells' and they got here at 10:30 on the dot....cool....but...I still hate the thought of shipping pieds and better stuff....

have fun
good luck
