Heating uva/uvb issues- Please help

mobmilli Sep 24, 2003 09:26 AM

We've always used the uva/uvb heat combo lights. We ussed a company called High Noon and just loved their lights. Lasted well over a year and had no problems. Well our light had blown and couldn't find at the time so went with another company. I've gone through 3 lights in the last 6 months. I really don't believe it's our unit blowing these lights. I have a basking heat light I use in emergency and it's lasted just fine but I can't keep my lights divided for very long.

Any ideas on where to find High noon or can you recommend another successful company that I can find uva/uvb heat combo lights. I used the Socket type light style.

That's the only difference is I've mail ordered the last 3 bulbs and they've all blown very quickly, not even getting 2 months out of them? I thought mail ordering would be cheapier than paying 80 bucks at pet store but it's actually been worse.

There is only one place that I found in a search that sells that high noon bulb you use, and I found it to be a bit expensive compared to the prices of the mercury vapors at reptiledirect.com. Copy and paste for the high noon bulb http://www.worldpetstore.com/highnoonbulbs.html

I'm curious which bulbs you were having all these troubles with?

I went through 2 of those in less then 4months and I used I believe Vitalife, but not sure.
I found worldpetstore in my search and have ordered a light. This is my last test of online ordering. If this one blows fast then I'll have to just use the ones from local pet store and pay nearly 80 dollars.

Thanks

I've tried them all, and your right by far solar brites were the worst. Have you tried the ZooMed powersuns? For 37.95 for 160 watt and 33.95 for 100 watt at reptiledirect.com these are what I've found to be the best for the money. That and the company offers a guarantee for 1 year for them. Just save the receipt, and send in the warranty card that comes with the bulb. If the bulb blows within the year they replace the blown bulb for the remainder of the warranty. So if the bulb you buy blows in 6 months they replace it and guarantee the replacement the remainder 6 months. Works out well and the company never gave me a problem when I needed to replace any of the bulbs.
