Funny Boa tale...

boaphile Jul 22, 2010 07:05 PM

In around 1993 I flew to Florida to buy a bunch of Peruvian Red Tail Boas. I flew down there with two carry on bags as that is what was allowed at that time. These were two full sized giant suitcases.

I bought some Peruvian Red Tail Boas. A bunch of them. So many that those two bags each came in just under the 70 lb. weight limit for each suitcase! As I carried in these two suitcases I was really struggling! IT was a relief to end up in the line to wait and to catch my breath. I was a lot younger and stronger back then, but that was still a lot of weight to be walking along with. I think my arms grew in length after that long walk!

I believe this little girls grandmother was one of those Peruvians way back then.

When I hoisted the bags into that stainless steel ledge for the ticket guy he really struggled with those two bags! He actually look angrily at me like I had these heavy bags just to cause him grief. He asked, "What are in these bags? Beach sand?"

I must admit I was really nervous at the time. Of course I would never try that today. I have no idea what would have happened back then, but I'm thinking if I pulled that now I might end up in one of those back offices getting searched thoroughly!

Ah... the good old days...

That story reminds me of something I did when I was 12, bought a ferret while in Maine for vacation and to sneak it back to Florida where I lived I had a carry on of a fabric cooler with towels in it (to give the ferret a bed) and wore those real baggy pants and cut a hole i n my pocket and make a larger pocket that went to my knee and placed the ferret in that pocket and blocked it off so it couldnt crawl out till i passed security and went to the bathroom to take him out and put him in the cooler for transport.

Fun Times
