The waiting ...

is difficult. They are at 8 weeks now.

This is not a recent pic. At this time it looks like I have 12 good eggs.

I know man, i have a two eggs that were laid on the 21 of May. Today is the 23 of July. They look good but I am getting blade happy! If they don't hatch by tomorrow I think I am gonna cut a small slit on top, just in case.

My clutch was laid on 5/17. But I incubated them a little cool (temp ranging from 78.5 to 82 degrees).... and it's still driving me nuts! PIP darn you!!!

yeah my first clutch hatched at 71 days....it looks like that will probably be about the average. The next clutch was laid nine days after the first and at around 70 days they should hopefully start pipping this weekend...fingers crossed...it's hard waiting.

I know your probably right, but I keep thinking that if I cut a small slit on top and don't cut any veins then the snake can continue to take it's time and no harm done. But if I wait too long the snake may drown and then it's too late. I will control myself, lol.

There were only two eggs in this clutch and I got lucky. They are a sexed pair. I can tell already these are gonna look nice, just wish there would have been more.

Step away from the blade they will come out when ready. I am up around 60 Corn babies for the season and I was tempted a few times myself especially with the Ball eggs but the finally hatched this week

a153fish Jul 24, 2010 11:30 AM

Yeah the temptation is there but I will control my self, I think. There is one that does worry me because it is very plump and I am afraid that if the egg absorbed too much water than the snake may not be able to slice the top easily. But still I'll wait. I have many clutches yet to hatch and only one fully hatched right at about 60 days. These guys are going on 63.

What temp are yours at? Mine have been almost exactly 80 degrees the entire time. Does that likely mean I have another week or two to wait?

By the way, a couple of them are starting to dimple. The moss is damp, so I thin they are moist enough.

sometimes they will dimple right before they hatch but they could also need a touch more moisture.

83 degrees with 80% humidity. I love using vermiculite with damp moss on the top for all kinds of eggs I wet it every day until it stays damp on its own. I also use egg chambers with small holes works great I know everyone is into the Hatchrite with no holes but its not for me tried it with a clutch this year didn't like it. I hatched near 100% percent with the method I like to use with the Corn eggs and so far 100% with Ball Python eggs.

a153fish Jul 24, 2010 11:40 AM

I have been using the naturally warm Florida weather to heat my eggs so it fluctuates with a night time drop of about 77. Daytime floats around 80 to 84 with ocassional spikes near 86 or 87. Draybar said his hatched at 70 days, so patience is what we all need. I just wish I knew where to buy some?

I think I saw some in the Grey-banded kingsnake classifieds, but since it is "locality", it is out of my price range!

Here are pip pics from 2004 to give us something to look forward to.

the patience found between the 5 and 6 mile marker can be very expensive, lol.
