Has anyone bought this yet? Its a real nice design. Looks like a mini canister style filter. Got Mechanical and Bio. Two hose, one for intake and one for out... Nice setup for only 40 bucks... I can't find any reference online. Its a brand new model good for 35 gallons or so. I might buy one just for the hell of it. It could replace my fluval 1 and duetto 5 and free up alot of room in my tank...

I am using one right now but for my frogs tank. Seems to be working good so far. Only complaint I would have is that with the hosing/tubes given the intake seems to be too low compared to the motor so occasionally you get splutters of air bubbles coming out of the outtake. And the outtake spout they provide doesn't seem to fit right. But I do like the spray wand provided which fits the width of a 20/29-gallon tank perfectly.

Picture of the 501.

Picture of the tank, but you can't see the spray wand or intake section.

It costed $40 from petsmart. A bit high, but I do like canister type filters and the ability to replace the medium inside with what I want.
