Incubator question

kingofspades Jul 24, 2010 07:20 PM

So the Reptipro 5000 was great, but too small. I'm making a bigger incubator and my question is this.

I have my heat tape, and I got the plastic insulators to put over the clips. When you put them on, there is a gap where the wire feeds in. What can I put in the gap to insulate the connection from humidity.
Would silicone work? (Like aquarium sealant?)

I fill the plastic covers with regular silicone so the entire metal connector is sealed. You need to wait at least 24 hours for the silicone to fully cure before you apply power to it however. Make sure to also cover the exposed metal conductor at the other end of the heat tape with a dab of silicone and/or electrician's tape.
