Feeder snakes

Regius71 Jul 25, 2010 02:05 AM

If this has been posted befor then please direct me to that link. I was curious as to which snakes are easy to keep/breed to use as feeders if needed or lizards for that matter.

Feeder snakes cant be a effective way to feed these. Finding gravid females and holding them til they drop is one thing, trying to keep, feed and breed feeder snakes has a host of problems. It will be very time consuming. The food you feed isnt going to be as varied so they could suffer from Thiaminase problems. And you realize that after waiting all year for a clutch of pencil leads...that one baby scarlet king could eat the whole clutch in 1 feeding. You would need ALOT of them, best leave them alone and try and grab a couple gravid females a year to get your kicks. Better yet, spend the time with your snakes and train them to take rodents!
