Proposed ban in Ohio

JCarr1 Jul 25, 2010 10:22 AM

Here is a link to an article that was published in today's Columbus Dispatch. They want to ban all breeding & selling of exotics in Ohio. This information is being forwarded to USARK by another local breeder.

I know it. There are some pretty big breeders in Ohio. How can they stand for it?

"How can they get away with it?" Its called being out-numbered and because they cant/dont give greedy Governors lots o' cash like HSUS.
We are in it deep as a country ,even if the National Python/Boa Ban dosent pass on a national level they'll just do it state by state anyway.
We need to pool our moneys together and buy us some poloticians

Yes it's called being outnumbered-exactly.

And that's what happens in a democracy. 51% of the population can take away the rights of the other 49%. Unless your right happened to be specifically mentioned in the constitution...then you might be spared.

While we all wave our flags and espouse democracy for all- do we really understand what we are saying?

No offense intended to anyone on here. Just hoping people will look deeper into their views on government, statism, and democracy.

I get what you're saying. America - land of the hypocrite.

Nothing but a bunch of judgmental moralistic finger pointing do-gooder know-it-alls that in reality know absolutely nothing.

They're all about inclusion diversity and acceptance...just so long as you're one of them...believe as they do.

Otherwise, they're just a bunch of intolerant bigoted prejudicial hacks.

I just heard some pundit on "Face the Nation" say -- "...the REPTILIAN REPUGNANCE of the Right Wing Republican Party...". I swear. I really did hear it.

That's how America sees us...as Repugnant Reptilian aficionados?

Now, is that fair?

Nothing but pure prejudice. Watch this show to see where we're headed.

The article is not nearly as disturbing as the comments from the public at the end of it.

Sadly, such comments are typical for articles like this Ed.

We are very aware of this issue and have already engaged with other groups to oppose it. Ohio is a top priority for USARK! It is a FREE state and we will fight tooth and nail to keep it that way. Stay tuned for updates. Be assured everything possible will be done to protect Ohio's Reptile Nation.

What species are listed on this ban? Is it all exotics, or just big stuff like gators, tigers, etc?

webwheeler Jul 26, 2010 12:00 PM

If the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has its way, it will be all exotics.
