age of sexual maturity

BennyD Sep 24, 2003 12:07 PM

Hi All,

Can somenoe tell me when ball pythons are ready to breed? I'm curious because my python is about 2 yrs old and she has been roaming the cage constantly lately, even after feeding!

Benny, sexual maturity is more a weight game, than an age game. For males, they are usually ready around 600g, though I've heard of males being ready to breed as small as 400g. With females, the heavier the better. I would say 1500g would be the norm. The heavier she is though, the better chance of getting more fertile eggs.
