What kind of kingsnake?

First you asked for the cheapest kingsnake but now you want a particular kind. "Cheapest" is a braod term. It would be easier to help you by eliminating the kings you don't want and telling us what price range you have in mind.

Or if you know the type of king you want just tell us and maybe somebody can direct you to a breeder.

It's funny you would mention that you don't want a hybrid. Because that is what I would reccomend for you.

Why the aversion to hybrids? Most all captive snakes are man made creations that are unatural intergrades anyway.

Unless you meant you want a "locality specific" animal. But there are not many who work with that. And from your posts it just seems you want a general kingsnake.

Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Florida, Brooks, Brooks and Brooks! Or Florida, Florida, Florida! I hope I'm not being biased?

My vote goes for brooks or MBKs. Fun snakes.

If you have a reptile show in your area, you can often get a great deal - and not pay any shipping.

Find the nearest reptile show and go! That way you can take your time and pick whatever you like that's in your price range. I'm sure you can find something for 20 bucks, now GO!

Go to petco then. You obviously don't know what you want, you can't get to a reptile show and you don't want to spend a lot. Answer: PETCO! It probably won't be in to good of health though. Another answer, buy a book about kingsnakes with lots of pictures so you can get an idea of what you want. No one can tell YOU what your looking for.

theres not even a pet co in my areaand the patsmart sells them for like 80

i think you're wise, someday you'll have an adult that's a single, identifiable subspecies (eastern, california, desert, florida, etc) and not something you have to hyphenate to identify.

You'll find many different opinions on hybrids vs not, but my first contact with kings was in the wild, and i'd rather have one the way it would have come from the woods than one created in a tank. btw, there are places along the range of each subspecies where intergrades occur and would also require a sort of hyphenation.

Terry, like most of us our first contact with kings was in the wild to. When have you ever kept two kings that were from the same location that they would have bred with each other in nature?

This diacussion was just done in a post below. These so called pure snakes are all man made intergrades. If they are not from the same rock outcrop. hillside or isolated pops. They are intergrades on some level. Maybe more than others. But none are as pure as you would like them to be.
