Couple questions?

Linda G Sep 24, 2003 01:04 PM

I finally got a weight on my Box turtle that I took in a week
ago. She is 250 grams and her shell is the size of a small
fist. Do you have any idea how old she may be?

Also, what vitamin supplement do you use for yours and how
often. I have a 2:1 that I use for my tortoise and Iguana.
Is this OK?

Thanks
Linda

I offer reptomin(tetrafauna), herptivite(rep-cal), reptical(tetra-terrafauna) maybe once a week
turtle eye clear(tertra-terrafauna) gets added to soaking water occasionally but not to often

as for her age there's no way of knowing exactly how old she is,
3-toed box turtles are one of the smaller subspecies, ranging in adult size from 4" to 6"
the smallest one I have is 4 1/3" the biggest is 5 1/2" (both are female)
what I use

Hard to tell her age by what you gave us. Suffice it to say, she should live a very long time no matter how old she is. Some researchers don't think turtles have a predilection like humans bodies do to break down/age with time.

As for vitamins-I guess your 2:1 product is calcium to phosphorous. That is good but even better is 2:0. Be sure to get one with vit D3 included in the mix. I use Nekton Rep vitamins because it is water soluable.
