Baby Kingsnakes eating question

KINGBOA Jul 29, 2010 07:55 PM

Almost all my MBK babies shed. Just wondering how long before I try feeding. Can I try F/T pinkies or do they have to be live. You guys have helped me a lot in the past. Thanks for any info you can give. Steve.

Kingboa, never hatched getula yet, but I always offer my corns their first meals right after their first shed, and always offer FT. If they dont go for it, you can always wait a couple of days and try a live. However, if your goal is to feed ft, try ft first IMO. Hopefully my pair of MBKs will be ready year after next as they are only 09s!!

Yeah after their first shed is a good time to try but don't panic if some don't want to eat. You have plenty of time before you need to start getting worried. They can go a few months with the reserve from the egg yolk however I start getting nervous after two months from hatching. At that point if all other tricks and methods have failed then I pull out the pinky pump. But Getula usually eat before then.
