First pip ever!

jsschrei Jul 29, 2010 10:07 PM

From a pastel female and male lesser pairing. Found him peering out when I checked the egg tub this evening. I can't wait until the little guy/gal comes out of the egg!

Thanks for looking!

That moment right there is my single favorite moment of the whole breeding process-congratulations!

Don't go looking for snakes--you might find them.

I remember my first snake pip back in 1992 thanks mainly to the advice of Bob Clark! Ya I know alot has changed with Balls since then but the passion of wondering "what if" still flows strong all these years later!

Nice clutch ! Good luck on your future slithers!

The "what if" is what hooked me in the first place. I am a Biologist and when I stumbled across the myriad of possibilities of these animals (boas and corns too) I fell in love with the hobby.

Thanks Anthony!

How Exciting!! Congrats!! I'm enjoying my first ever Corn snake babies pipping this week. It's so fun. Day 55 on my Ball eggs and they haven't even started to dent yet. The waiting is killing me but I won't cut them till the first few start on their own. I wish snakes laid clear eggs so you could watch them develop and know they are OK in there... Although I guess would take some of the fun out of them pipping and you getting to see what you have. Hope you really do get a Pastel Lesser out of your clutch, they are gorgeous.

I know how you feel. I swore to no cutting until the first few pips. Even then I only made the smallest cut (not even ig enough to see what was in there), just to make sure they had a start on the shell if they needed it. Pip #2 already had his head out when I made that decision. I felt much better after I did it.

Congrats on your corns! It's so fun. I won't have corn pippies until next year.

Best wishes!

Is the point in which you realize you are hooked for life and start plotting how many more snakes you're going to get and where you can fit them. Congrats. and isn't it extra cool when your first baby is a morph?

You created that life!!!!

In some way we are micro gods....ruled by bigger gods...

The mutations that people are now creating is just incredible.... it was not so many years ago we could not even imagine making a clutch just like this!!!

Nice way to start your micro god career!!

I think I am even more proud of the mamma and pappa than I am of myself...they did do all of the work after all I actually took them out and thanked them both before I went to bed last night...how nerdy is that!

Thanks!

Congrats Jessica! Seeing those heads coming out of the eggs is always very cool! Not a bad combo to start with! Update us with pics when they are out of the eggs. Have fun with your new babies!

Congrats Jessica! I think most breeders remember their first clutch; the excitement, the wonder, the WOW factor. Now you're really gonna be hooked.

Please let us know what the end results are and post pics after they shed.
