Hi there,
My cleaning regimen includes full water changes weekly and I break down my undertank canister filter weekling cleaning it out and change its contents twice a month (carbon, ceramic macaroni that helps with bio stuff and a sponge). I also just found out I am feeding way too much. Every other day is fine and this cuts down on the food/turtle waste in the tank. Which is always a plus
I also use a Turtle Water Conditioner that is supposed to help break down food/turtle waste and I put that in with each water change.
These guys are cute but rather messy and can stink up any tank in the blink of an eye. I have two young ones in a 40 gallon and it needs constant attention. Also do you have your tank near a window that could be encouraging algae growth? As for fish (like an algae eater)I keep fish out of their house cause goldfish carry some nasty things. Hope this helped.
My friend this is a simple answer, It doesnt matter how many filters you have after a period of time the turtles deficate till the water is as pure as toilet water no way should the water get to that point or even close to it, of course there are good bacterias and also negative effecting bacterias in conclusion, dude change your water
