Which gecko do you think will turn out nicer?

StarGecko Sep 24, 2003 02:11 PM

Okay, so I've posted pics of Vivid before and was going to sell his genetic brother but decided to hold him back til I have a better idea of how he will turn out, and as a back up breeder. He is about a month and a half younger than Vivid and is just starting to go hypo (Vivid just started to go hypo Aug. 1), but I expect him to go hybino as well given his parentage. Also, his orange has been intensifying and he has been getting some nice orange on his tail.

Vivid is on the right, his brother (lets call him BroViv for now as I have not named him) is on the left. Which do you think will turn out nicer? I think Vivid will but I am not sure enough of that to give up his brother, yet.

It all depends what your breeding goals are. If you are looking to impove the orange in the tail then Vivid is the one. If you are looking to improve the body color, then Bro is the one.

Holding back is the best thing to do for now. Either one will sell quickly if you decide to ever do that.

Hmm, not sure about the tail orange thing, it doesn't develop until later in these gex. In this pic of Viv from August 1, he was just starting to get a little orange on the tail and go hypo. So Viv's brother actually has a good bit of orange for his age, he could potentially end up with more than Vivid, and Vivid isn't done developing his carrot yet. It is still increasing weekly on both geckos.

Working with these gex is very exciting, but I'll admit, it takes patience! However, I think it's worth the wait It sure gives me something to look forward to, watching these guys grow up!

Vivid had more orange on his head at his brother's current age than his brother does now. Thanks for noticing that, it's helpful! I still can't wait to see how they turn out...but I have to.
