Superb Mate. Are these the real deal Campbelli or is there some Nelsoni in there somewhere? Either way, there's no denieing they are pretty lik things.

No nelsoni in them as far as I know. I received the sire and dam from reputable breeders. The pure 100% Hypo L.t.campbelli, from what I understand is a contraversal morph. Maybe some of the more experienced guys out there will chime in. I did breed a visual hypo to a visual hypo and got all normal looking babies this year.

I have always thought that the hypo gene is campbelli is the real deal.Probably the reason you produced normal loking offspring from two visuals was because I am sure if you could trace the two lines they are different.About 85% of the hypo pueblans all came from one line out of L.A.
But, a few years ago Mark Bell produced some from normal looking animals not conected to the older line.Although they look pretty much the same they probably have different allele's and thats why you got normals.Nobody (including the Bell's) have taken the two lines and tried them together as of June when I talked to Mark.
So, there is a good chance thats what is going on with your animals.

And as far as the speckling or snout ring goes on your animals its no indicator that they could be hybrids.Back in the early to mid 90's I produced over a thousand campbelli and from time to time I would get broken snout rings or mottling out of parents that where 100% f1 and f2 generation animals that had solid black snouts.Like everything you will have some variations in a clutch.

Shannon, thanks for chiming in. That will definately be why the 2 produced normals. The sire was a mark bell( I got 2nd hand) and the female was picked up at a show. Now I guess I should hold back some of these to see what I get?

great color shots...usually the black is black in photos of these....you show the color ....

my thought?...is the nose blotch all wrong on these for PURE campbelli???.....especially the het.....(I have no idea the story on the origin of hypo Ltc...
Thanxx....

I knew that photo would catch someones eye. The Hypos are from totally different sire and dam, and yet they have a mottled nose pattern just not as pronounced as that one. I for sure will not hybrid any snake but that doesn't mean somewhere down the line someone didn't introduce a different sub species into it brfore I received it. That hatchling is from a halloween female and a hypo.

This could make for a lengthy discussion as I have research the Hypo pueblan and there are some who believe that it came about from a hybrid. I personally enjoyed having pueblans in my collection since it was the first milksnake I ever kept 18 yrs ago. I wish I had the lineage on them but don't.

Hopefully some of the other guys will chime in and explain a little better.

Thanxx and OK...I do not know the story behind them and doesn't matter...I just wonderd a little...I don't mind hybrids usually....looks so easy to have just thrown a hypo hondo on a Ltc male and then back bred the whitest kids with the most Ltc look to them for a couple years.....you know....(or nelsoni Tplus)

...nice color...and as I said...you captured it well....I see hypo Ltc all the time that look black to me....(online)...

Good Luck....!
