I always try to steer newbies into some good books on the subject. I think Hubbs has a kingsnake book out, but I'm sure there is a $15 manual that can handle most of your common questions. These questions in particular, double clutching should only be attempted by experienced breeders(not the first year)with animals they have gotten to know over time. Once you know how individual snakes will react to feeding after breeding, after laying you can develop a more aggressive strategy the 2nd season. Colubrids need to be brumated as well, their down time and size/fat content have to do with health and size of clutch. As far as cal king genetics, I am no expert buy I do know the lav albino gene isnt allelic to the red albino so you will get dbl hets and possible dbl hets. And its very late in the season to breed any colubrids now, but pump em up and get em fat for next season!
