I bet at least 8 out of 10 posts on these forums ends in idiocy...

kottonmouthking Sep 24, 2003 02:41 PM

All forums, but it seems especially this one provoke people to retaliate. The thing I can't usually figure out though is what they're retaliating for when no one has done anything to them to call for that reaction. Is everybody bi-polar around here or what? I love the way alot of posts now even have a disclaimer in them that they're not trying to start anything. Just looking for answers or sharing comments. It's pretty ridiculous. Just thought I'd share my observations. As I have before. It seems to just get more prevalent though. If I've offended anyone, I really don't care. But feel free to start a 3 foot long thread about it. It's amusing. For a few minutes anyway.

Greetings! On the small chance that you might be referring to me I politely pose the question. Do you see where anywhere in this thread where I mentioned his business closing? Or mentioned it by name? yet he publicly accused me of spreading false rumors.
If you read the posts I tried to end this and the copperhead kid arguement as well. I tried to help this fool(it is there to read). I don't find it amusing. Guess it's true that no good deed goes unpunished..

I have to say that some of the post here get alittle out of hand..... I dont know why alot of people here have their noses in the air...... We just keep snakes...... The thing that kills me is that we have enough people against us and what we do, we do not need to jump on eachother....... This should be a brotherhood not a pissing contest......

taphillip Sep 24, 2003 04:03 PM

Yup, it's always a pissing contest, I tried to offer help/opinion/suggestions/arguments....whatever, all I've had to do was defend against personal attacks. Which is fine, I tried to close this thread in private, so everyone else didn't have to read this junk anymore. Sorry Frank, I guess we can continue this in the forum...I would prefer not, so if everyone is in agreement lets let this subject die already. you will do what you will do, we will do what we will do, and continue not helping anyone. That's the everyone likes it.
Best Regards to all.

rearfang Sep 24, 2003 04:19 PM

Whatever...The hypocrasy has me nauseous... and I know you just don't have it in you to aknowledge the lie about me you printed here....But for the record... Have you noticed the responses from people who offered help? Too bad you could not see what we tried to do for you.....finis.

help or just post to see what you can start? I come here for information about animals that I find truly fascinating. There's enough bull$hit going on in reality. I don't see the point in starting it in cyber space too.

about every forum.

TexIndigo Gal Sep 24, 2003 04:17 PM

and it goes something like:

A: "Did not!!!"
B: "Did too!!!"

Repeat steps A and B twenty dozen times or until you either fall asleep or puke.

or

A: "My Daddy is bigger than/can beat up your Daddy!!!"
B: "He is not/can not!!!!"

Repeat steps A and B twenty dozen times or until you either fall asleep or puke.

or

A: "I'm bigger than/badderthan/smarter than/cooler than/younger than you/your Daddy/Momma/self!!!"
B: "No you're not!!!"

Repeat steps A and B twenty dozen times or until you either fall asleep or puke.

or, most likely of all,

A: "Mine is bigger than yours."
B: I'd prefer skill to size or quality to quantity any day.

Oops, didn't mean to interject myself into the equation.

One of my favorite statistics to quote used to be "that's why there are 105 boy babies born for every 100 girl babies, but by the time we reach adulthood, the numbers are about even and after the 30's, the women outnumber the men." However, from what I'm reading lately, that demographic is on the move all across the globe.

I'll see your observation...
And match it with one of my own:
These people are passionate about their snakes and their beliefs.
They tend to get defensive when they feel threatened.
BUT !!!
If you go back and read those endless threads you will find that most of them start out having SOMETHING TO DO WITH SNAKES!
Your post, has nothing to do with snakes at all but is instead an antipersonal attack on the participating members of the forum.
If you don't like the endless arguments, don't click on them.
If you have something ABOUT SNAKES, please share.
If you are just here to stir the pot, don't you think we can manage to cybernetically attack each other's viewpoints quite well without you commenting on it?

And, NO, Frank, I did not see where you mentioned Mr. Phillips' business' name.

You folks feel the need to argue?
Let's play!

Is there such a thing as a Canebrake Rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus atricaudatus)? Please provide proof of your assertions (something more than So-and-So said so).

Is there such a thing as Rhinocerous Viper (Bitis nasicornis) antivenom available within the United States? If so, from where? If not, what should be used instead?

Arguments are not difficult to come by or start. Please, let's just at least keep them on topic!

Why hello there Mr. Gouda,
or cheeser if you wish.
I tire of the endless prattle...
as well my friend...but heed to this;
T'was not I who tweaked the Pack
and let the thoughts astray!
I but tried to balm the wound
and for it I did pay.
As too the purpose of it all...
I was just talking snakes.
when that quite distempered man,
Chose offence to make.
But sir, since well you do inquire,
about canebreaks and beasts as such.
I have to say they are distinct!
Wright and Wright have said as much.
They point a difference in scales
To Dorsal rows of 23,
has the horridus h. my friend,
And the truth may just well be...
That atricaudus with it's 25,
and cinnamon stripe that's so unique,
is not the same as horridus.
As one can tell with just a peek!
And so my friend I end this rhyme
for I know little about Bitis.
And to you sir wecome back.
your commentary does delight us!!!!!

I'll have to refer his post to the spousal unit. She is the poet in the family rather than myself.

I do however second that I'm glad to see the mouse return.

Celebrating with Camenbert.

I concede to Rearfang in the poetic arena (but that goes back a few posts). Frankly that's what is wrong here. We digress too easily, three foot long threads, and egos set upon the anvil poised to be stricken by the hammer of the next post. Egos are brittle things, they tend not to be maleable (sp?). As such, don't respond positively to being smacked. It's easy to smack in this medium, you have all the time in the world (as I do) to formulate a response. It's equally easy to get lost in the weeds of a transgression, misinterpretation, or typo. Real or perceived, makes no difference.

We all need to get a grip.

As was stated before, all have a real, valued opinion and the right to exercise it. But shall we all endeavor to stay on topic, or at least realize when there are differences the discussion needs to move off the board and into private e-mail? Who knows, you may find that in actuality you and your opponent are having a heated agreement.

Regards,
J.

Geez, mebbe we ought to ask KS for a "Hall of Fame" forum. They decide who gets there, but you both are contenders in my book.

There is no spacific AV for rhino vipers...... The stuff to use incase of a bite is SAIMAR or SAPV..... Covers B.gabonica, B.arietans, Rinkals and all of the south African cobra species.....

Bravo! welldone!
Oh friendly mouse...
who's skittering lines
chastise the crude.

Me thinks you teach a lesson well
But then I ask...At just what house?
Pray friend I circle like a moth
fain to pardon if I'm rude.

My wife, my love...

She wonders sir are you the man...
You sound just like her sweet professor.

English is your sweet lament?
And this is your solemn task
To read our posts like a confessor,
ready to absolve our woes...

Are you within the sunshine state?
But serpent talk is what here goes.
I shall not waste the forum sir.
On Bitis questions I defer.

Alas, I wish I could offer something. But suffice to say at least to me this far more amusing than the urination contest that appears to have first started this original poetry reading. It is a far, far better thing you do...

...that those of us that are also interested in the language should take our discussions elsewhere. It occurs to me that in addition to monopolizing the board I am also ignoring my own admonition.

Let's keep this one to venomous animals and e-mail me a site to play with English (if you know of one).

It's been fun.

How nice and civil these forums were, say, five days ago? IF you don't remember these forums being civil because you A. weren't here or B. only post during arguement threads, maybe you need to examine if you are part of the problem.

I wouldn't waste the neurons it takes to understand it... I'm sure we all have better things to do.
