"Cadillac passes away" 20 year old Indigo...........

Fred Albury Sep 24, 2003 03:09 PM

Today my adult male Eastern Indigo "Cadillac" passed away. I have had this snake for about ten years, give or take a few days. I got him as an adult, from a now defunct local pet shop, where he orignally was being fed road kill(True story and disturbing,no joke) Needless to say I took him off of that diet and put him on a more reasonable one! He was 9 years of age when I purchased him, and the owner of the store had kept him for 5 of those. So.....I estimate his age to be around 20 years of age total at the time of this post. I'm truly not sure if this represented a record, I DO know that this guy bred well up until two years ago and has produced many of the Eastern Indigo that are in other peoples bloodlines now. I will miss him, truly. He represented my start in this hobby, and also was a MAJOR acquisition, the first Indigo I ever held or owned.I can still remember how stoked I was to get the snake that I had only READ about or seen pictures of. THAT was a great feeling indeed

On a lighter note,I would like to thank Rob.C. for all the nice things he said in earlier posts about me, as well as Dean,Gila,Eric East, Old Herper, Sir-pent(Landon) and Dean. Thank you all for the kind words.I'm glad that Rob got my redfaced male, it couldnt be in better hands. For those of you that are wondering, I am not getting out of herps, or takeing a self imposed break. I am just starting over. You are truly a great bunch of guys, thanks for all the kind words and help over the years. This isnt good by, merely, a reminder that I'm not leaving

Thanks,

Sorry to hear it Fred. Always a great loss but somehow comforting that a lot of Cadillac is still out there. Equally comforted by the fact that you'll be back. In the meantime you (have been) and will continue to be missed.

Jeff Nichols

Fred,
I am truly sorry to hear about Cadillac's passing. Sounds like he had a long and productive life, though...and in good hands.

As Jeff said, he's still ALL OVER THE PLACE out there...

Sorry to hear of your loss Fred...that was a fantastic animal to say the least. Thanks also for the nice words; it sure is good to know that you are making a comeback...and I look forward to sending an indigo from your red faced male next year (Lord willing of course). The pair are doing great and putting on good weight and hope to give them a go next month (and that female is absolutely psychotic come feeding time....I thought my Naja naja was bad...your girl makes her look like a kittie!).

I hope things go well for you and you're able to return to your passion soon.
Good luck,
Chris

Lives on the blood of the many young he has sired.

Fred...You've done a lot for everyone who loves Dymarchon through your breeding and educational efforts.

While you're away from the animals themselves, we hope you continue to help out folks here.

Have a nice break from cleaning up crap,
But enjoy it while you can...

We know you'll be back!

Dean
