You will get alot of debate as to how big. I know persoanlly the biggest female BCI I have seen was around 11.5' in captivity!

And Yes they absolutely get bigger in the wild!!!!

Why would they get bigger in the wild. As a captive they get everything they need. They get more food with no effert. All the water they can drink. Optimal temps. No parasites. So, why would they do better in the wild?

My thoughts on why they can grow bigger in the wild, is they are growing at a natural pace. Captive raised animals are fed on "we" feel is the right prey size and frequency, most often what is most convenient for "us."

You can powerfeed a boa to make it larger faster, but you can also do the opposite and stunt a boas growth by not feeding it an adequate amount. Although no one wants to admit that they do either of these things intentionally.

Also smaller boas are quite popular, so many breeders are trying to "manufacture" boas to stay under a certain size, whereas in the wild the larger, more robust boas from a litter are the one most likely to survive.

They can possibly grow bigger because they have unconfined space !

Actually Marc its because you're sitting around confined in your nice big new space.

That's the problem our Boas (Boids) have in many cases they are confined and fed but get no exercise.

Those Boids roaming around in their natural open spaces get the exercise plus have no boundary restrictions .

They are allowed to grow to their potential and to the size of their environment

Their environment is Vast !
