Too bad. I just had a similar experience with a honduran milk.
Mine had not started to smell, but only barely pipped the shell.

I had a similar experience with a snow corn a number of years ago.

Too bad it died, but if you have the parents maybe you will get another one. I have a young female pyro that is a twin; not conjoined but the parents do produce twins on occasion. I would not be surprised to get a conjoined set of twins from her some day.

Well that stinks. But I think there is a lesson here also. When you're not sure about an egg, try to incubate it and leave it alone. Let it go bad on it's own. I think FAR to often, we try what we think is best to help an egg along, and all we do is interfere. Mother nature is much tougher than most of us think. Think about some of the conditions that eggs have to hatch in when in the wild. We would drive ourselves insane over it: Varying temps, humidity, light, etc...etc... Who knows what may have happened if that egg hadn't been cut open. But it's oohhhhh so tempting.
