Clutch #6 for the Season. Woop Woop....

thunderpaws Aug 08, 2010 10:53 AM

This is my 6th clutch in my second season of breeding and it is fUN. I am getting spoiled. There is nothing like opening your tub and seeing what is pictured below. This is a normal that was bred to my TSK Super Pastel or my Jeremy Stone Pastel 100% Orange Ghost. This makes 5 current clutches in the incubator with 43 viable eggs. Out of 6 clutches i had 52 eggs and only 1 slug. That is very cool. Thanks for looking.

Regards,
Bill Rubin

Nice clutch Bill. Your female looks huge to have only half of her body wrapped around a 9-egg clutch. How much does she weigh?
Congratulations!

Hi Susan,

She weighed 2500 grams just before ovulation. I think the clutch would weigh around 800 grams so she is a solid 1700 grams or less in the pic. She is actually one of my smaller normal breeders. Thanks for the kind words.

Good !

But you won't know who sired your clutch by using a super pastel and a pastel het og.

You won't know who are the possible and who are not. But after all, possible are possible... not worth any more in these days until it's proven.

Well,

If I get 9 pastels I will consider them non Het for OG. If I see one normal than they will all be poss het for OG....At least that is the way I am going to look at it....But your right...I did not breed the pastel het for OG to retire on. I only bred him to see if you would lock and he did...Multiple times and he weighed around 350 grams when he locked and he is a 2009 hatchling. So I get to call him proven too.

Nicely done, Bill!

Your Post It notes look like mine.

Thanks Casey,

That is too funny about the post it notes. I like just showing the time lines for anyone new to breeding. Yeah, no sophisticated computer software yet for my breeding, and probably never will...I am old school note card guy. Thanks for the nice comments...How many pastels can I put you down for.....?

Yeah, that's me. Old School.
Sorry, can't take any Pastels. I have too many of these things I need to get rid of.
