New shipping solution!

a153fish Aug 08, 2010 01:58 PM

I want to share with you guys, a new Reptile shipping Solution for anyone wanting to ship HARMLESS reptiles. I have heard good things about them and since SYR doesn't do snakes anymore thought some of you might be interested. I just became registered with them and it was super easy!

Thanks for posting that. Sorry SYR got screwed out of the deal. I used them only once but was very pleased.

They are still using UPS which, unless they have a bit of paper saying otherwise that you can download, still doesn't ship snakes. So like SYR you are putting your snakes at risk of being stopped by a UPS employee half way to it's destination. Sorry I value my snakes too much to risk that, FedEx knows what I am shipping and is ok with it, to date UPS is not unless something has changed.

The several companies that combined entities to form "Reptiles Express" spends close to one million dollars a year shipping with UPS, and UPS knows the company will DEFINITELY be shipping snakes among other thing too. They also send a printed waiver to show ANYONE involved that specifically states "RE" is indeed a valued and verified snake shipping company with them, and they(UPS)is already well aware of what is being shipped.

I don't think UPS wants that sort of huge revenue being yanked out from under their feet anytime soon if they can help it. So for this particular company(RE), they are definitely willing to accomodate them here.

Now I'm definitely not saying that some clown can't ruin this service too somewhere down the line, because I certainly know there are plenty of morons out there that are quite capable, and can do the job very well..LOL!

Only time will tell here, but it sounds far better initially with their relationship with UPS and the way they were 100% up front about what their customers will be shipping.

I think this time it will be different. Plus you have to go thru a screening process not a hard one but it should weed out young kids who don't care what they ship, and any problem people hopefully. But regardless it's up front and comlpletely legit. Just how I like doing business. Fed Ex is good too, nothing wrong with that or maybe even giving your customers an option since RE will be less expensive which should help increase your business. Think about it?

For sure Jorge!........all in all it sounds like a good foot to start off on anyway.

The great plus about Fedex would definitely have to be their air conditioned trucks. I can't say that a dark brown truck is real fabulous as far as keeping heat down while in trasport in the intense summer sun. I really wish they were white instead!, I would feel WAYYYY better about that aspect of it. That is certainly why UPS can keep their prices below the others because they don't have the additional consumption of gas with their fleet maintenance cost.

Just used Reptiles Express, and was very pleased. Easy to get signed up, excellent communication, and printed the UPS label right on my printer at home. Nice price, too!
