Im looking to get a rack system going with heat tape and such, and im wondering what kind of Thermostats you guys would reccomend?
Ive had a Thermostat go out on me a few years ago and kill my Ball Pythons, so I really want to play it safe and get a reliable Thermostat.
Im limited on price, so I want to keep it no more than $150.
Your input is much appritiated!

Rancos are good. If funds are limited you can get a single Ranco for $100 shipped from Boaphile. If you really want security and can come up with $40 more than your $150 you wanted to spend you could spring for a double Ranco for $190.

I am a huge fan of the Spyder Robotics Herpstat model for racks. It is about 120.00 shipped and the support on it is awesome. Dione backks this product unbelievably. It is a proportional therm and works really well. I am sure the other therms are great too. I just love the Spyder Robotics therms.

Herpstats!!!! ten years and never a glitch.... And Dion ALWAYS answered e-mails and phone calls personally, best customer service of any product I have ever gotten. I use them in my racks and incubator. I do back them up with Johnsons though, never had to fall back on the safety thermostats.

Remember you can always put a $10 light dimmer in line with your thermostat. I do this as a safety precaution on all of my thermostats. You set the dimmer to maintain a high temperature, around 98 deg for me, so your thermostat can still do its job but if it fails the dimmer will keep the temps from reaching the danger zone.
