Male crested lost his colour????

jip Sep 24, 2003 05:20 PM

I have a male red/fire crested. He had a beautiful deep red colour with the yellow fire markings down his back for the first year, then i introduced him to my yellow female. And now after being in with her for 6 months and helping to produce 4 eggs he has lost all his vibrant colour, and now is just a dull pinkish grey. He eats great, and seems very healthy, has anyone had this happen??

thanks
JIP

I bought a baby crested, and when I got her she was blood red, and then when I got her home she was gray and spotted. Now about 8 months later she has gone back to being red again, and she lives with another female the same age as her now. But she has been with her since they where about 6 weeks old. So I don't know what would of caused the color change, but at least her color came back. I bet if you give it some time your male will color back up. You didn't change the temperture by any chance did you when you put them together, cause that could affect his color? Well good luck with that, as long as hes healthy thats all that counts!!!
