Suriname Experts

I recently aqcuired this large female Suriname and i had a few questions for you guys. She is 7 years old, just under 9 ft and right at 40 pounds. Other than that i do not know much about her origin, she was raised from a baby by the previous owner. I am not sure im going to keep her.I admit im not much of a Locale guy, but this girl really caught my eye. I breed morph stuff consistently, but i have never tried the Suri's before. Do you guys follow the typical breeding patterns as with common boas? Do you use multiple males? Any other breding quirks that separate them from the normal boa breeding trials? I would also like a few opinions on her appearance,i know everyone likes a diferent look, but i also know you guys have seen alot more than me. Thanks George

I am not an expert, your animal is very nice looking....I certainly would hope she is not 40 pounds at only 9 feet and she does not look like she is that overweight from that picture.

The Shield Bcc (Guyana, Suriname, N.Brazil) have never seemed to be more difficult to breed but require more patience when working with them IMO.

There are several key ingredients in getting any boa to breed I just think that the parameters for Bcc are a little tighter as to what they will tolerate to produce a viable litter.

Good luck with whatever choice you make.

I'm not fan of insanely huge peaks in Suris, but this animals is gorgeous. Reminds me some FLRT features. Breeding suris is a great challenge as they can be really unpredictable regarding their reproducing behaviour. Stimulation is a must in successfull breeding in my opinion. And of course, using multiple males is always a good idea.
Oh, and if I were you, I would definitely keep this one!

All the best,
Adam

Thanks for the info, i heard they can be a bit challenging compared to BCI. Thanks again for the response, George

I honestly do not know, believe it or not she was kind of a rescue animal. Im trying to locate the original owner to find out where he purchased her. I did talk to someone from FLRT and he seems to think that animal is from his line, he would know more than me at this point. Thanks George

It definitely has that Bobo x Mrs Peaks look to it..... but it also has the look of some of those old school North Brazilians,.,,, in either case it probably is counterproductive to speculate on lineage...... Not a good idea to stamp a name on something based on a bunch of guesses...

I was talking with someone from FLRT about this animal, thats all. Im pretty sure i know the origin of the animal after contacting the original owner. More than likely she is not from FLRT lines. I was just asking opinions on here because i know you guys compare alot of animals. George

every single saddle, speckle, dark spot line up perfectly ... it's the same snake. I've never seen 2 that look identical.

Look closer

georget22 Aug 10, 2010 03:50 PM

Thanks for the pic, but im almost certain now that she is not from FLRT lines. I will know for sure soon, thanks George

Man I don't care what anyone says. This animal is pure perfection. This is what most suri people look for. One of the best I've EVER seen.

Thanks for the response, she definitely caught my eye. I have seen alot of Suri's at the importers down here in Florida, but she really had me staring at her. A few other people have contacted me by phone and share your opinion. Thanks George

Great looking Suriname! Although I know she's not the same animal, her saddling reminds me some of a Suriname that Gray Rushin used to own by the name of "Phanta." I'm looking forward to hearing more on her background.

I flipped the original adult picture and rotated both pics a little to try and get the body shape to match up.

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously

You are correct, i spoke with Dennis and sent him pics of her and he agreed that she is from Brian Abrahmsons line and that he did have some of Brian's animals. Great detective work, Ace Ventura would be proud, lol, seriously thanks. Like i said , im not a locale guy, so it really made no difference to me where she came from, however it is kinda nice knowing. Now can you put those great detective skills to work and find me a nice male, lol. I would like to see any other pics you would have of her and other siblings. Thanks again George
