2 New Bearded Dragons

justasiam Aug 09, 2010 05:53 PM

I got 2 bearded dragons about 2 weeks ago. They are about 6-8" long each and are male and female.

So far, they are doing quite well on greens and mealworms. They love it when I throw in crickets, but crickets are very expensive on my limited income.

Is there a good place online I can buy them cheaper?
What about frozen crickets? How does that work?

They eat the mealworms, but sometimes not. The movement of the crickets makes the male happy, but the female seems to like the mealworms instead. I believe crickets are about 9cents each. That is too much when they devour 1-2 dozen at a shot.

Is there a better alternative?

Try www.coldbloods.com The phone number is listed on the site as well. I believe they are $8.50 per 1,000 shipping and he has all sizes.

That's supposed to read $8.50 per 1,000 PLUS shipping in my other message.

Congrats on your new additions.

Coldbloods.com, offers 1,000 crickets for $8.50 plus freight.

Courtland, is a great guy to deal with and they have every size

available, check out the site or give them a call. They are not

affected by the virus going around to all the cricket

breeders. They also have other feeder bugs available.

I would steer away from feeding mealies to your beardies, they

really aren't nutritous for them. For worms, you can go with,

phoenix, silk, horn and supers, but the smaller supers

considering the size of your dragons.

Hope this helps, cheers.

No need to apologize, I'm sure coldbloods doesn't mind the extra endorsement at all!

There are many online cricket sellers and the best thing to do is find a good one close to you. Shipping can be costly though it still makes it far cheaper than buying crickets at a local pet store. Check the businesses and classified tabs above to locate a feeder supplier near you. Depending on where you live, one may even be within easy driving distance.
