The ironic thing or maybe not so ironic is that while I was writing this little blurb up, she was getting ready to have her puppies. I was down and up at least a dozen times yesterday checking on her. She had the first litter of known Het for Prodigy Boas before I was done writing. I was there from the first to the last camera in hand. An absolutely great litter!

The father is a Hypo Motley. All the resulting offspring are either Hypo or Motley. A hoot to watch these puppies being born. My wife and I were there for the entire process. She had to keep telling me to quit jumping around so much! I'm like a little kid!

The contrast between the light Hypos and the dark Motleys is remarkable!

This is the first litter produced by a Prodigy Boa.

Prodigy Boas are a form of T-Positive originating with Clay English who had them pop up from a female he had purchased from me as a baby in 2000.

Here is a picture of the litter Clay produced in 2007:

The mother is at the very bottom left of the picture above. The word "female" is right below her in the shot.

Here is the very dark and very much ready to give birth Momma the day before having these babies:

Here is her brother in a shot taken last year so you can see an Adult Prodigy Boa.

It was a very good day.

Awesome litter, Jeff! Big congrats! Some very nice and clean hypos and motleys in there! Has there been anymore Prodigy t positives produced since that original litter?

boaphile Aug 10, 2010 12:51 PM

The parents of the six Prodigy Boas in existence have not reproduced since the Prodigies were produced in 2007. This litter is the first litter that any of the Prodigies themselves have produced. So no more Prodigies yet and no known hets except the parents of the Prodigies. The season is not quite over yet... No chance of Prodigies, but there is a chance for some more "hets"... we all just have to wait and see.

Very nice litter Jeff! It's cool to see how the different genes combine with the motley gene.

Used the on-board flash give me better results that the larger flashes with all the acrylic doors there is too much light bouncing all over the place.
