Anyone paired hypo motley to motley?????

asnakesview Aug 10, 2010 11:03 AM

Just wondering if anyone has done this pairing or also hypo motley to hypo motley. BSing with Brendan Magee this morning after seeing the boa gods amazing litter and just wondering if you would have a chance of hypo super motley from the either of those pairings. Just curious guys. This motley hypo thing sure has some questions to answer.

Also it makes sense to us that hypo and motley are on the same locus but we were just wondering if anyone has actually done either of these pairings and what the ACTUAL outcome was not the speculated outcome. Thanks everyone in advance.

Jeremy Stone has done hypo motley x hypo motley, this is the breeding that produced the "red devil." If you are not familiar with the Red Devil, it appeared to be a bright red super motley, being with no pattern. Unfortunately it did not live.

I believe Frank Martin also did the breeding and also produced red devils, which did not live.

There has been speculation whether or not a red devil is a hypo super motley (which in theory should be impossible) or if the red devil is a freak gene, which also may be a lethal gene? Considering the fact that we have seen super motleys produced from a breeding involving only one motley parents, nobody really knows what to attribute the super to, or the Red Devil.

The other breeding you mentioned of a hypo motley x motley, in theory should only produce Super Motleys, Hypo Motleys, and normal motleys, however I do not know if anybody has done it, would be interesting to find out though....???

kind of scary if you ask me considering by genes one might carry a lethal gene its like some of the early super jungles which involved a 80 percent mortality rate but the possibility is staggering if it was achieved but the risk and the gamble would be to great for a small breeder to try
