Dead egg

texasviper619 Aug 10, 2010 04:16 PM

I mentioned on an earlier post a clutch of eggs that are 77 days old, well upon inspecting them today I found one of the eggs is apparently no good, it has a crumpled appearance and is very soft. My concern is that all the eggs are stuck together (14 in all) will this dead egg affect the others? There doesnt seem to be any mold on it that I can see. Thanks

I agree with Tom. There have been far too many people posting with eggs for the first time worring about whether they will hatch. just be patient and wait. if they are fertile they will be fine. Do not touch the eggs trying to Z"help" them They don't need any help! don't cut them unless you have a coupe season with sevral clucthes under your belt. Stop fiddleing around with them so much. they are a lot tougher than you think they are. Temps can vary and can either drop at night or go from 68-85, safely. Putting them in a incubator is also not neccessary for kingsnake eggsna dusually backfires and kills the eggs. just put them in a dark quite place (like a closet) and forget about them. Don't try and remove dead eggs either. these things hatch even if rotten eggs are attached.
