Miffed at UPS...

SouthernSerpent Aug 10, 2010 05:10 PM

Ordered a pair of het piebalds and a pair of het albinos. They left yesterday from their origin. They were at the hub here and out for delivery at 7:30 this morning. At this time they still have not arrived. We live thirty minutes from the terminal hub. Go figure. I guess a semi rural cusomer who is that close still does not rate that highly in the UPS shipping policies. Fed Ex on the other hand has always gotten our packages here in the late A.M. So who would you trust with your money and your precious cargo??? I would say Fed Ex reigns supreme in our area without a doubt.

...it just depends on your area...I would prefer either 1 in my area...it does not matter...DHL was the 1 company that never delivered on time...next time you order from somebody just use fedex...and be prepaired to pay a little extra because they may not get the discount that UPS gives you when you use ship your reptiles.com

It's the safest way to do it in cold and hot weather.

I have had FedEx lose several of my packages, including ones containing live animals. They did eventually deliver the animals after enough yelling over the phone, though they came in dead. I imagine it depends on the area you live in.

1) FedEx has a before 10:30 a.m. option

2) Don't know if UPS has anything comparible!

3) I've never had a problem w/FedEx

4) Just because you live a 1/2 hour from the hub, doesn't mean that's your delivery time!

UPS also has a before 10:30 option. When I had issues with FedEx, the before 10:30 option was always chosen.

FedEx has the Priority Overnight Option. It guarantees 10:30 AM Delivery unless it is rural. When you put in your info on your FedEx Account you click on the option to see the cost of shipment and if it can't guarantee 10:30 AM it will show the new guaranteed time. I sent a shipment to PA that was guaranteed for 12:00 Noon and it arrived at 10:27 AM. The guy that received the snake said that UPS never delivered by that time and was always around Noon. I am shipping a snake to CT tomorrow and the guaranteed time is 4:30PM. Checked the WX and the high is less than 80 so all good. You just have to know how it works or you could get burned literally.

Fedex is also pretty good about the before 10:30am thing too. Latest I had one arrive was 10:45am.
Can't complain about 15 minutes of unforeseen traffic.

The only problem that I had w/FedEx was the shipping quote off their website, never matched what I was billed!

I hope you called your FedEx Rep. My Rep would fix that in a heartbeat.

I recently bought a SD Retic and the breeder sent it FedEx. It was supposed to be at my house by 1030am. At noon, I got a call from a guy at a local Food Supply business telling me he had my package. Same add number, only I live on 11th ave and the business was on 8th ave. 3 blocks off!!! Stupid FedEx! Luckily he didn't open it and they were open and he got my phone number off the box and called. she was ok when I got her home. I won't use FedEx at all! UPS has always been good with me.

Always put your phone number on the box!!!

Don't get me wrong, i'm sympathetic to your situation, but i thought UPS doesn't allow shipping of snakes of any kind. I know Ship Your Reptiles had a waiver for this policy but UPS rescinded the waiver. Has the waiver been reinstated?

Check out ReptilesExpress.com. They have a waiver to ship with UPS and are signing people up.

I ordered some mice from Rodent Pro and they ship UPS. The delivery guy put that big heavy box on the steps directly infront of the door. As the door opens out, it made it imposible to open the door without pushing the box off the steps.

I don't have a back door.

Luckly I was able to muscle the door open and it was a short drop so my mice were OK (still dead and frozen but otherwise OK). I made a complaint to UPS and they said they would speek to the driver about his mistake.
